Dynamic Yoga Primer

Yoga Coventry

Yoga Coventry sprite Dynamic Yoga Primer - the gateway to dynamic yoga styles. The Dynamic Yoga Primer (DYP) is a derivative of the First Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. It has been developed as an 'undercoat' for learning any dynamic yoga style, such as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, etc.

The reason behind bringing this approach comes from experience of how newcomers respond to their first exposure to such styles as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Entering the dynamic yoga forms can be challenging for most people inexperienced in yoga or trying it from a lower level of fitness, strength and flexibility. This entry stage will provide an easier introduction to the dynamic yoga forms by starting with a lower 'workload', increasing the load gradually, with slower pace and detailed instructions on all aspects of the practice. "Rome wasn't built in a day" - rather than hurriedly 'setting the bar too high', we build solid foundations first, providing a good platform to grow from.

The DYP is still a challenging sequence of postures and requires attention, commitment, perseverance. Nevertheless, if you are serious about wanting to learn dynamic forms of yoga, this method will provide a sensible and enjoyable way in.

The basic 'technology' is the same as in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga - you travel through a sequence of yoga postures with movements synchronised to the rhythm of your breath, generating deep heat throughout the body. Every time you come back to the class you will go through the same sequence until you're thoroughly familiar with the practice and are ready to take a step up - you can then move along to the next stage in three alternative but interlinked directions, and:
